Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. butter
    2 c. light corn syrup
    2 c. white sugar
    1 1/2 cans Eagle Brand condensed milk
Preparation
    Boil butter and light corn syrup for 5 minutes on medium heat. Add 1 1/2 cans sweetened condensed Eagle Brand milk.
    Mix 1/2 cup flour with the other 1/2 can condensed milk.
    Boil slowly until mixture darkens and makes a medium hard ball (240\u00b0).
    You must stir constantly as it burns easily.
    Cook in a heavy aluminum pan. Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla.
    Pour into buttered cookie sheet. Cool.
    Cut into squares and wrap each piece in wax paper.
    Yields 5 dozen.
