Golden Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. figs
    1 lb. white raisins
    1 lb. raisins
    2 lb. fruitcake mix
    1/2 lb. candied cherries
    1/2 lb. candied pineapple
    2 c. shortening
    1 c. sweet milk
    3 c. light brown sugar
    1 1/2 lb. nuts (black walnuts, pecans, almonds or English walnuts)
    8 eggs
    1 c. light colored jelly or strawberry preserves
    6 1/2 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Wash raisins in warm water.
    Cut cherries in half and slice the rest of fruit.
    Chop nuts coarsely.
    Cream shortening and add sugar gradually.
    Cream well.
    Add eggs, beaten until very light. Add jelly and mix well.
    Mix flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon together.
    Dredge fruit and nuts with 1/2 cup of this mixture.
    Add remainder to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Add vanilla and stir in fruit and nuts.
    Mix well.
    Line pans with greased heavy paper.
