Miss May Craver'S Taffy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. boiling water
    2 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. vanilla flavoring
    1 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    Combine ingredients and boil until it will crack on a toothpick when placed in cold water, like ice.
    Place on a greased platter or marble slab and let cool until a dent can be made in it when pressed with a finger.
    Gather in a lump and pull with fingertips until light and porous.
    Roll
    in long, thin strips and cut in 1-inch pieces.
