Poppy Parmesan Straws - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
    1/4 c. poppy seed
    1 pkg. (411 grams) frozen puff pastry, thawed
    1 egg yolk
    2 tsp. cold water
Preparation
    Stir cheese with poppy seeds, set 1/2 aside.
    On lightly floured waxed paper, roll out 1/2 of the pastry to 12-inch square. Beat egg yolk with water; brush lightly over pastry.
    Sprinkle with about 1/3 of cheese mixture.
    Roll lightly.
    Fold in half crosswise; roll out to 12-inch square.
    Brush with egg mixture and sprinkle with cheese mixture and roll out lightly.
    Turn pastry over, brush lightly with egg and sprinkle with remaining cheese mixture.
    Repeat with reserved pastry and cheese mixture.
    With sharp knife, cut each pastry into 1/2-inch wide strips.
    Holding each strip by ends, twist into a spiral.
    Place 1/2 inch apart on greased baking sheets, pressing down the ends.
    Brush ends with egg.
    Bake in 425\u00b0
    oven for 10 to 15 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
    Makes 4 dozen.
