24-Hour Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. vanilla wafers
    1/2 c. butter (only)
    1 1/2 c. confectioners sugar, sifted
    3 whole eggs, unbeaten
    1/2 c. crushed pineapple, drained (almost squeezed)
    1 c. whipped cream
Preparation
    Crush wafers; put 1/2 in bottom of 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Cream butter and sugar well.
    Add one egg at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Pour mixture over crumbs in pan.
    Fold pineapple into whipped cream and spread over mixture in pan.
    Top with other 1/2 of crumbs.
    Chill for at least 24 hours.
    Cut into squares. Serve with whipped cream and a cherry, if desired.
