Fruit Cocktail Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. vegetable oil
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 can flaked coconut
    1 stick butter
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. evaporated milk
    1/2 can coconut
    1 can fruit cocktail
Preparation
    Mix the first 3 ingredients.
    Sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
    Blend in the fruit cocktail (undrained).
    Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch sheet pan and sprinkle with the coconut.
    Bake 45 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Melt the butter and add 3/4 cup sugar and the evaporated milk. Boil 1 minute.
    Add the vanilla and 1/2 cup chopped nuts and 1/2 can coconut.
    Pour over cake while warm.
