Scottish Mince - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. butter
    2 onions, chopped
    1 c. carrots, grated
    1 1/2 lb. hamburger meat
    2 Tbsp. oatmeal
    1 Tbsp. tomato paste
    3/4 pt. beef stock
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Melt butter in a saucepan. Add onions and carrots and fry gently until soft and pale gold. Add hamburger meat and fry until well-browned. Stir in oatmeal and tomato paste, then gradually blend in stock. Season to taste with salt and pepper and bring to boil, stirring. Lower heat; cover pan. Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve hot with mashed potatoes and vegetables.
