Old Fashioned 3 Pound Fruit Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2/3 c. butter
2 eggs
8 oz. candied cherries
8 oz. candied pineapple
4 oz. candied green cherries
4 oz. candied citron, diced
4 oz. candied lemon, diced
4 oz. candied orange, diced
1 c. seeded raisins
1/2 c. pecans
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. soda
1/4 c. molasses
1 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. brown sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. water or fruit juice
Preparation

Cream butter, mixing until smooth.
Add brown sugar, beating well.
Add eggs and mix.
Then add sifted dry ingredients alternately with water, beating well after each addition.
(Hold in reserve 1/2 cup flour for dredging fruit and nuts before adding to above mixture.)
Combine the 1/2 cup flour with the fruit. Then fold in the fruit, nuts and molasses to the butter mixture. Pour into pan which has been well greased and lined with wax paper. Bake in oven 275\u00b0 for 2 to 3 hours.
A pan of water placed in oven while cake is baking adds moisture to cake.
