Johnny Cake(Corn Bread) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    3/4 tsp. baking soda
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. yellow cornmeal
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1 1/4 c. sour milk or buttermilk
    3 Tbsp. melted shortening
Preparation
    Sift first five ingredients into mixing bowl.
    Add cornmeal. Combine eggs, milk and shortening.
    Add to dry ingredients, mixing well.
    Bake in a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan in hot oven (425\u00b0) for 40 minutes.
    Best served warm.
