Shoo-Fly Pie(Poor House Pie) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour (scant)
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. lard, Crisco or oleo
    3/4 to 1 c. baking molasses
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Mix flour, sugar and lard until crumbling.
    Put 1/2 crumbs over bottom of 9 to 10-inch pan.
    Save the rest for top.
    Add 1 cup boiling water to scant 1 cup or 3/4 cup of baking molasses. Then add baking soda.
    Stir until foamy and then pour into pie crust pan.
    Add remaining 1/2 of crumbs to top.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for about 1/2 hour, then bake at 350\u00b0 for another 1/2 hour.
