Bavarian Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small head red cabbage, washed and coarsely sliced
    1 medium onion, sliced
    3 tart apples, cored and quartered
    2 tsp. salt
    1 c. hot water
    1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 c. vinegar
    3 Tbsp. bacon grease or butter
Preparation
    Place all ingredients in crock-pot in order listed.
    Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours (high for 3 hours).
    Stir well before serving.
    Excellent served with a rich meat.
