Layered Lettuce Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce
    1 c. diced celery
    4 sliced hard-cooked eggs
    10 oz. pkg. frozen peas, thawed and uncooked (optional)
    1/2 c. diced green pepper
    1 diced medium sweet onion
    8 slices diced fried bacon or ham
    2 c. mayonnaise
    2 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Using a 9 x 12-inch pan, layer ingredients; celery, eggs, peas, green peppers, onions and bacon.
    Add sugar to mayonnaise and spread on the top like frosting.
    Top with grated cheese. Cover and refrigerate for 8 to 12 hours.
