Ingredients

1 lb. pitted dates
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. hot water
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Cook 1/2 pound of dates, baking soda and 1 cup hot water until dates soften.
Cool.
Mix together 1 cup sugar, butter or margarine and 1 egg.
Add this to date mixture.
Add in flour, baking powder and 1/2 cup chopped nuts.
Bake in a 9 x 12-inch greased pan at 375\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
Cook remaining 1/2 pound of dates, 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water until soft.
Add 1/2 cup nuts and spread over top of pudding.
Serve with whipped cream.
