Dirt Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
1/2 to 1 c. confectioners sugar
2 small pkg. vanilla instant pudding mix
3 to 3 1/2 c. cold milk
12 oz. whipped topping
1 large pkg. Oreo cookies, crushed

Preparation

Combine first 3 ingredients in bowl; beat until creamy. Prepare pudding mix with milk, using package directions.
Add pudding and whipped topping to cream cheese mixture.
Mix well. Alternate layers of cookie crumbs and cream cheese mixture in new 1 gallon plastic flower pot, beginning and ending with crumbs.
Place bouquet of red, white and blue silk flowers in pot and attach toy shovel.
Chill; shovel to serve.
May also half the cookie crumbs, use all the cream cheese mixture and remaining crumbs in 9 x 13-inch dish.
May use poinsettias for Christmas.
