Mom'S Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. Crisco
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs, whole
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. cake flour
    2 oz. red food coloring
    2 tsp. cocoa
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Make a paste with red food coloring and cocoa.
    Set aside. Mix soda and vinegar, set aside.
    Cream shortening and sugar, and eggs, one at a time.
    Add flour and buttermilk alternately and slowly, then add coloring mixture, soda and vinegar mixture, salt and vanilla.
    Mix well.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for about 25 to 30 minutes. Bake in 3 layers (greased and floured pans).
