Wellesley Fudge Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 sq. unsweetened chocolate
    1/2 c. hot water
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    1 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. butter
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Melt chocolate in water over low heat, stirring until smooth. Add 1/2 cup sugar.
    Cook and stir for 2 minutes.
    Cool until lukewarm.
    Sift flour with soda and salt.
    Beat butter until light and fluffy.
    Gradually beat in remaining sugar.
    Add eggs one at a time and beat thoroughly.
    Add flour and milk alternately.
    Blend in vanilla and chocolate mixture.
    Pour into two greased and floured 9-inch pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
    Cool 10 minutes in pans before removing.
