Deer Steak In Mushrooms - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. deer meat
    1 tsp. herb seasoning
    1 c. flour
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 can consomme soup
    1 (4.5 oz.) jar mushrooms
    1/2 c. Wesson oil
Preparation
    Clean deer meat, removing all fat and gristle, leaving only red, lean meat.
    Place on cutting board and tenderize by beating with meat mallet.
    Salt and pepper to taste.
    Dredge in flour. Fry in hot oil only until slightly browned on both sides.
    After browning all pieces, pour off all except 2 tablespoons oil.
    To the oil, add soup, mushrooms and seasonings.
    Return meat to this mixture.
    Cook, covered, on top of stove for about 45 minutes or until meat is tender.
