Italian Beef - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 to 5 lb. beef roast
    2 c. water
    1 tsp. oregano
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    2 bay leaves
    2 cloves garlic
    1/8 tsp. allspice
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    2 beef bouillon cubes
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 large or 2 small onions
    1/4 tsp. basil
    1 tsp. ???
Preparation
    Salt and pepper meat; brown on all sides under broiler or in frying pan on stove.
    I use a crock-pot now and after browning the meat, add all ingredients and cook all day.
    It can be baked in oven at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes per 1 pound also.
    Cool after cooking. Slice very thin and return to juices.
