Indiana Baked Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 qt. dried navy beans (4 lb.)
    4 qt. water
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    2 Tbsp. salt
    3 1/2 tsp. prepared mustard
    2 c. ketchup
    1 c. molasses
    1 large onion (2 1/2 to 3-inches in diameter)
Preparation
    Soak beans in a large kettle overnight.
    Simmer about 1 hour in water in which
    they were soaked.
    Mix together sugar, salt, ketchup, molasses and mustard.
    Add to beans.
    Lay onion on top. Bake, covered, at
    300\u00b0
    for
    5
    hours.
    Add
    boiling water if necessary to keep beans
    from
    becoming
    dry.
    Remove the onion before serving.
