14 Day Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cucumbers
    1 c. salt
    3/4 c. alum
    vinegar
    1 box pickling spice (whole)
    5 lb. sugar
Preparation
    First Day:
    Wash cucumbers and pack tightly in gallon jar. Cover with boiling water to which salt has been added.
    Let stand for 24 hours.
