Ingredients

1 c. sweet whole milk
1/3 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 well-beaten eggs
1/4 c. shortening
1 pkg. yeast
flour (for batter)
Preparation

Lukewarm milk.
Put in shortening, salt and sugar.
Let cool. Dissolve yeast in small amount of lukewarm milk.
Add beaten eggs to first ingredients. Stir in flour, slowly, to make thick dough. Let rise in large bowl until doubled in bulk.
Turn out on floured board.
Knead well.
