Jan Hagel Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg yolk
    pinch of salt
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream shortening; add sugar and egg yolk and cream well.
    Sift all the dry ingredients.
    Add to the first mixture, then add vanilla.
    Spread on a greased cookie sheet and brush with the slightly beaten egg white that has been diluted with 1 teaspoon water.
    Sprinkle the top with cinnamon and sugar.
    Bake at 300\u00b0 for 1/2 hour.
    Cut into squares while still warm.
