Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/3 c. brown sugar, packed
    1/2 c. water (boiling)
    1 egg
    1/2 c. light molasses
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Mix together the first 5 ingredients. Set aside.
    Beat shortening and sugar until creamy.
    Add egg and molasses.
    Beat well.
    Add dry ingredients to shortening mixture, alternating with boiling water.
    Beat after each addition.
    Pour batter into pan.
    Bake 35 to 40 minutes.
    Serve warm.
    Makes 9 servings.
    Use 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan.
