Ingredients

4 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
8 oz. finely chopped walnuts
4 eggs, separated
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Sift flour and salt together.
Cream butter, shortening, sugar and egg yolks.
Roll in 1-inch balls.
Dip in slightly beaten egg whites.
Roll in nuts. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 5 minutes.
Remove and make thumb print.
Continue baking for 8 minutes more.
