East Texas Preserve Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. white sugar
    4 eggs
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. allspice
    2 tsp. soda
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 c. strawberry preserves
    2 c. pineapple preserves
    2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Sift together all dry ingredients.
    Cream together the butter and sugars.
    Add eggs, one at a time.
    Add all other ingredients and mix well.
    Bake at 300\u00b0 for 2 hours in 2 iron skillets.
    Ice with caramel icing, if desired.
