Apple Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1 egg
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 c. peeled, shredded tart apples
    1/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)
    1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
    3/4 tsp. rum flavored extract
Preparation
    In mixing bowl, cream sugar and margarine.
    Add egg and mix well.
    Add dry ingredients; mix well.
    Fold in apples, nuts and vanilla and rum flavored extracts.
    Spread in a greased 8-inch square baking dish.
    Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Serve warm with \"Vanilla-Nutmeg Sauce.\"
