Jam Bites - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
    1 c. margarine or butter, softened
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. almond extract
    2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 c. jam
    Glaze (below)
Preparation
    Mix powdered sugar, margarine, egg, vanilla and almond extract.
    Stir in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar.
    (If dough is soft, cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.) Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Divide dough into 12 equal parts.
    Shape each part into strip, 8 x 1 1/2-inches, on lightly greased cookie sheet.
    Make indentation lengthwise down center of each strip with handle of wooden spoon.
    Spread 1 teaspoon jam in each.
    Bake about 10 minutes.
    Cool 2 minutes; cut strips at an angle into 1-inch slices.
    Remove from cookie sheet; cool.
    Makes 8 dozen.
