Butterscotch Slices(Cookies) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 c. nuts, finely chopped
    2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Place first 4 ingredients in mixing bowl; mix thoroughly.
    Add nuts and mix.
    Sift flour, soda, cream of tartar and salt.
    Divide into two portions.
    Add first portion to shortening.
    Mix well, then add the second portion.
    Knead dough with hands until smooth. Pack firmly in two rolls.
    Place in refrigerator.
    Chill until firm.
    Slice and bake for 6 to 8 minutes.
    Makes 60 cookies.
