Dutch Hustle Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/3 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. margarine
1 pkg. dry yeast (active)
1/4 c. warm (not hot) water
1 egg, well beaten
1 1/3 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 c. canned or cooked apple slices, drained
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation

Scald milk; stir in sugar, salt and half the margarine.
Cool to lukewarm.
In mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm, not hot, water.
Stir in lukewarm milk mixture.
Add egg and flour.
Beat until smooth.
Spread dough evenly in greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Arrange apple slices on top.
Sprinkle with spices.
Dot with remaining margarine.
Cover and let rise in warm place free from draft until doubled in size (about 40 minutes).
Bake in 400\u00b0 hot oven for 25 minutes.
Drizzle with powdered sugar icing.
