Date Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 1/2 oz. dates, cut up
    1/4 c. Crisco
    1 egg
    1 2/3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. black walnuts or English walnuts
Preparation
    Pour hot water over cut up dates; let cool.
    Cream Crisco and sugar; add egg.
    Mix dry ingredients together, add to date mixture.
    Add nuts.
    Bake in loaf pan in 350\u00b0
    oven for 45 minutes.
