Cornbread - cooking recipe

1 c. cornmeal
1 c. plain flour
1 tsp. brown sugar
1/4 c. Crisco oil
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
3/4 tsp. soda
Preparation

Sift the flour, then measure 1 cup.
Sift together with soda, salt and baking powder.
Mix with cornmeal.
Combine oil, sugar and eggs.
Mix well.
Add buttermilk and flour mixture.
Beat until smooth.
Bake in a well-greased iron frying pan 25 to 30 minutes at 420\u00b0.
