Christmas Egg Nog - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 separated eggs
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 c. whipping cream
    1 1/2 c. sugar, divided
    1 1/2 qt. milk
    2 tsp. vanilla
    ground nutmeg
Preparation
    Beat egg yolks; gradually add 1 cup sugar and the salt, beating
    constantly.
    Gradually add milk and cream.
    Cook over hot water,
    stirring
    constantly
    until
    mixture thickens and coats spoon.
    Cool.
    Add\tvanilla
    and
    chill.
    To serve, beat egg whites
    until
    foamy.
    Gradually beat in remaining 1/2 cup sugar and fold into chilled custard.
    Spoon into chilled punch bowl and sprinkle
    with nutmeg.
    Yield:
    4 quarts or 30 servings.
