Boiled Country Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 to 3 lb. cabbage, cleaned and chopped medium
    1 small onion, chopped fine
    1 small green pepper, chopped fine
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 small carrot, shredded and chopped fine
    1 c. bacon bits or ham bits
    3 Tbsp. salt
    pepper to taste
    1 qt. water
Preparation
    Combine the onions,
    green pepper, carrot, bacon or ham bits, salt and sugar.
    Add
    to the boiling water.
    Cook for 10 minutes. Add chopped
    cabbage
    and cook for 20 to 25 minutes. A small amount of
    water
    may
    have
    to be added if cabbage is going to be cooked longer.
    Serves 8 to 10.
