Nora Townsend'S Date Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dates, chopped
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. sugar
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1 beaten egg
    1 c. black or English walnuts
Preparation
    Add butter or margarine to boiling water.
    Pour over dates and let stand while mixing dry ingredients for batter.
    Combine sugar, flour, soda, baking powder and salt.
    Add dates and liquid to mixture.
    Add egg and walnuts to batter and mix.
    Bake in shallow pan at 350\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
    Serve with whipped cream.
