Pecan Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    1 c. Karo syrup
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1 lb. shelled pecans
Preparation
    Mix first 3 ingredients well and set aside.
    Combine sugar, water and syrup in a large saucepan.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until a small amount of syrup forms a soft ball in very cold water.
    Add butter and pecans.
    Cook, stirring constantly until a small amount of mix dropped into cold water separates into threads which are very hard and brittle (do not burn).
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in soda mixture; mix thoroughly. Pour on 2 buttered cookie sheets.
    Let cool.
