Kosher Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    raw cucumbers (length of qt. jar)
    fresh dill
    garlic cloves
    red hot peppers
    alum
    grape leaf or bay leaf
    1 c. canning salt
    3 qt. water
    1 qt. cider vinegar
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers; let stand overnight in cold water.
    Put whole cucumbers in clean jars.
    Add 2 heads dill, 1 clove garlic, 1/8 teaspoon alum, 1 hot pepper and 1 grape or bay leaf to each jar. Heat salt, water and vinegar to boiling.
    Pour into filled jars and seal.
