Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3 Tbsp. milk
granulated sugar
raisins
Preparation

Cream together shortening and sugar.
Beat in eggs, one at a time.
Add vanilla (or 3/4 tsp. lemon extract).
Mix together flour and baking powder; blend into creamed mixture along with milk.
Drop cookies by heaping teaspoons 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet.
Flatten slightly with fingers; sprinkle with sugar. Press a raisin into the center of each cookie.
Bake 10 minutes in a 375\u00b0 oven or until cookies brown.
Remove from baking sheet and cook on rack.
Makes 36 cookies.
