Shanila'S Lentil Soup(Mung Ki Dal) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. mung dal (Indian store)
    2 c. water
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1/4 tsp. hot red pepper
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. melted Crisco or oil
    1 large onion, cut paper thin slivers
    1 tsp. cumin seed
    1 Tbsp. chopped fresh coriander (cilantro)
Preparation
    Wash mung dal until water washes clean.
    Put dal in pot.
    Add water, turmeric, red pepper and salt and bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat to low; cover pan partially and simmer for 30 minutes, or until dal is tender, but still intact.
