Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 cucumbers
    3 medium onions
    1 Tbsp. salt
    several ice cubes
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. vinegar
    2 to 3 bay leaves
    1 tsp. mustard seed
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers.
    Slice paper thin; also, the onions.
    Mix with salt and ice cubes in a plastic bag.
    Refrigerate for 3 hours and then drain.
    Boil sugar, vinegar, bay leaves, mustard seed and turmeric for 5 minutes.
    Add cucumbers and onions.
    As soon as it comes to a full boil again, remove from heat and put in jars.
    For safekeeping, boil the jars and lids to sterilize them.
    Store in the refrigerator.
