Lisa'S Nanny'S Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients

4 c. plain flour plus 1 extra c. to roll dough
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

Preparation

Sift flour in large bowl; make hole in flour mixture.
Mix together soda, buttermilk and vanilla (be sure soda is dissolved well).
Use electric mixer to cream sugar, shortening and eggs. Add buttermilk mixture.
Gradually pour this into hole in flour and mix well.
