Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 oz. red food coloring
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vinegar
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add eggs.
    Beat well.
    Sift flour, salt and cocoa 3 times. Mix with buttermilk; add vanilla and red coloring.
    Fold in soda and vinegar.
    Do not beat.
    Makes 2 layers.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes in greased and floured pans.
