Spiced Cucumber Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 gal. large cucumbers (even if turning yellow)
1 c. pickling vinegar
1 Tbsp. powdered alum
1 small bottle red food coloring
10 c. sugar
2 c. vinegar
2 c. water
8 cinnamon sticks
2 small pkg. red hot candy

Preparation

Bring to a boil and stir until red hots dissolve.
Add cucumbers and boil gently about 30 minutes.
Remove pickles and pack into hot jars.
Bring syrup to a boil and simmer about 30 minutes.
Fill jars and seal.
Pickles can be left in syrup overnight, then brought to a boil next morning and put into jars and sealed.
