Ingredients

1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. broken pecans
2 c. candied cherries (I use 1 c. red and 1 c. green)
2 c. dates, cut in pieces (I use boxed chopped dates)
Preparation

Cream shortening and brown sugar.
Beat in eggs, one at a time. Stir in sour milk.
Sift together flour, soda and salt.
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture.
Add pecans, cherries and dates. Chill for one hour or overnight.
Drop from teaspoon on lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes or until set.
