My Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 medium sized cukes, cut in 1/4-inch slices
    1 1/2 lb. onions, sliced thin
    1/2 c. salt
    3 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1/4 c. mustard seed
    2 tsp. celery seed
    1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Preparation
    In large glass or stainless bowl, combine cukes, onions and salt.
    Let stand for 3 hours, then strain.
    Rinse with cold water, and strain again.
    Drain in colander.
