Butterscotch Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar, packed
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3 egg yolks
    2 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. maple flavoring
    1 (9-inch) pie shell, baked
    3 egg whites, beaten stiff
    6 Tbsp. 10x sugar
Preparation
    Combine dry ingredients.
    Add yolks and mix well.
    Gradually add milk and stir until smooth.
    Add butter.
    Cook and stir over high heat until thickened (about 10 minutes).
    Remove from heat and stir in flavorings.
    Cover and beat whites.
    Add sugar gradually.
    Spread over cooked filling, which has been poured into pie shell.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 7 to 8 minutes or until light brown.
