Refrigerator Bran Muffins - cooking recipe
Ingredients

5 tsp. soda
2 c. boiling water
1 qt. buttermilk
1 c. shortening
2 c. white sugar
4 eggs
1 Tbsp. salt
5 c. flour
2 c. 40% bran flakes
3 1/2 c. All-Bran
dates, raisins and nuts (may be added)
Preparation

Mix soda and boiling water and cool in a large bowl.
Add buttermilk.
Cream together shortening, sugar, eggs and salt.
Add flour alternately with the liquid.
Then add cereals and dates, raisins or nuts.
Keep batter covered in refrigerator.
Bake as needed. Keeps for 3 weeks.
Put in muffin tins, greased, 3/4 full. Bake at 400\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
