Pear Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 c. sugar
    2 sticks cinnamon
    1 c. water
    quartered pears
    1 pt. cider vinegar
    1 Tbsp. ginger root
    2 Tbsp. pickling spices
Preparation
    Heat together sugar, vinegar, cinnamon, ginger, pickling spices and water.
    Add pears to the syrup along with 2 slices of lemon.
    Cook pears until tender when pierced with a toothpick. Remove from heat and let stand overnight.
