Luscious Lemon Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    2 1/4 c. sifted flour
    1 c. milk
    grated rind of 1 lemon (save lemon)
    1/2 c. chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Preparation
    Cream 2/3 cup of sugar and shortening.
    Add eggs and stir. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
    Add lemon rind and nuts. Bake at 350\u00b0 in a well greased loaf pan for 1 hour.
    While bread is baking, combine remaining 1/3 cup of sugar and juice of saved lemon.
    As soon as you take the bread out of the oven, poke holes in it with a toothpick and drizzle the lemon sugar mixture over it.
    Let stand in the pan until cooled.
