Potato Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 c. vinegar
    3 c. water
    1 Tbsp. salt
    potatoes
    mayo or sour cream
    onion (optional)
Preparation
    Boil potatoes in skins.
    Peel and cool while hot.
    Cover with mixture of first four ingredients.
    (Make additional mixture to cover potatoes, if necessary.)
    Let stand several hours or overnight.
    Drain thoroughly.
    Add mayo or sour cream.
    Onions may be added.
