Ingredients

1 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Sift flour.
Measure and resift baking powder, soda and salt into a two-quart mixing bowl.
Add buttermilk and mix lightly with a fork.
Turn out on a floured board; knead lightly four or five times and roll or pat out to 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut into rectangles with a floured knife.
Drop into boiling stew.
Cover and boil gently 12 minutes.
Do not uncover during cooking.
Serve immediately.
Good for chicken and dumplings.
